On September 29, 2011 Sarah R. Saldaña was sworn in as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas by the Honorable Sidney A. Fitzwater, Chief U.S. District Judge. Upon the recommendation of Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, President Barack Obama nominated Ms. Saldaña as the District’s new U.S. Attorney, and on Monday, September 26, 2011, the U.S. Senate unanimously approved her nomination.
U.S. Attorney Saldaña has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney since 2004 and most recently served as a Deputy Criminal Chief in charge of the Fraud/Public Corruption Section. Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, she was in private practice at Haynes and Boone, LLP and then at Baker Botts, LLP, in Dallas. She has also worked for several federal agencies including the U.S. Departments of Labor, Housing and Urban Development and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She earned her undergraduate degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Texas A&M University – Kingsville, formerly Texas A&I University, and a law degree from Southern Methodist University.
